Hello,
This issue of eNotes is all about the turn.
What is a turn you ask? It is the I vi ii V7 either written into the song at the end of a phrase or section of a song or added by the pianist in place of the I chord.
Now, 2 months ago I did an eNotes lesson on the turn but this one is different! Using chord substitutions, you can get a very cool alternative to the traditional turn.
Have a listen!

Hope you enjoyed the video. As usual, give it a try on one of your favorite songs. You can use this at the end of a verse going into the second verse or verse going into a chorus. You can use it for a chorus going into the bridge too. You get the idea.
Warmly,
Debbie
