Hi
Here is a technique for the left hand that I use ALL THE TIME when I am playing ballads. This fills in the space between the chords beautifully. It does require that you know your chords pretty well because you are breaking them up. In other words, you are not playing them root, third, fifth then seventh in that order. By playing them in a different order you are opening up the chord to create a spacious and a bit more dissonant sound. Lovely!
Give it a try.
